Why this credibility tier

The third is weaker than it first looks. The cut rests on the Wall Street Journal's account that chief executive Arvind Krishna said AI agents replaced the work of a couple hundred HR workers; the words of his that it quotes say total employment went up. IBM has published no statement or filing about the cut, and its own accounts describe moving people: Krishna wrote in 2023 that AI let IBM shift 700 HR professionals doing manual work to fewer than 50, and chief HR officer Nickle LaMoreaux said very few roles were completely replaced. In July 2026 IBM said it would triple US entry-level hiring. Quote this as substitution plus redeployment, not a net reduction.
